Gaines had a good day at the Rubio Long Snapping Midwest Camp on June 28th, 2020. Big and powerful Long Snapper with an incredible personality. Type of Long Snapper that can lead on and off the field. His hands are tremendous and they are super quick. Gaines balance is good and so are his eyes. I would love to see him focus on getting his back parallel to the ground so he is able to use all of his massive lower half. He is using his legs well but would be able to use more of them if he lowers his butt. Consistent Long Snapper with solid potential.
Gaines did well at the Rubio Long Snapping IL Fall Camp on December 15th, 2019. Large Long Snapper with a strong and powerful frame. Starting form is good and he has rocket-like hands. Ball jumps out of the gate very well and is easily in the low .8s to high .7s. Gaines has good accuracy and consistency. Love to see Gaines focus on leaning back a tad more and increasing his athleticism to really be able to market himself to the next level. Really good attitude and he is extremely coachable. Love his attitude.
Gaines showed me some good things at the Rubio Long Snapping VEGAS XXXIII Event on January 19-20, 2019. Big man with solid power and tons of upside. His pop is good and he is using his massive legs well. Getting his butt down so his back is parallel to the ground will allow him to get more speed on the ball. Increasing his overall athleticism and also locking down his release point will be huge for Gaines. He is a hard worker and coachable. Upside is very solid.
