Gilbert Islas had a very solid weekend at the Rubio Long Snapping Rising Seniors Camp in Lewiston, ID on July 11-12, 2026. He is a very stoic Long Snapper who handles pressure extremely well and never seems to get rattled. Gilbert performs at his best when he trusts his training and simply reacts instead of overthinking. When he gets hot, he is VERY hot and can compete with just about anyone. Gilbert has great starting form and does a very good job of getting his entire body involved throughout the snapping motion. The biggest key to his continued development will be creating more consistent snap speed by perfecting the timing between his upper and lower half. The more confidence he snaps with, the better he becomes, because all the physical tools are already there. Gilbert has a tremendous amount of upside, and his future is truly in his own hands. If he continues to believe in himself, trusts his mechanics, and attacks every snap with confidence, he has the ability to become a special Long Snapper. Looking forward to seeing him this fall!
