" I want to tell you what being part of the Rubio Family means to our family. I decided to bring my son son to a camp in 8th grade after he decided that he wanted to attend high school at football powerhouse. My goal for him was to get him a spot on the bus. At his first camp he was the only 8th grader, I remember him standing next to all the senior and JC players. I really thought I may have brought him too early. As the camp concluded, there was a competition. He competed against a JC player who had a hair bun and facial hair. That JC player went out of his way and encouraged my son. My son looked at him with great admiration, not only because of his snapping but because of his humility. My son left that camp and went home and practiced, even though he wasn't playing football. A few month later we went to another camp, ironically, he was paired up and competed against the same JC player. This player remembered my son and again he was very gracious. On the surface he didn't do much, just provided encouragement. The reality is it meant a lot to me and it left a lasting impression to him. That JC player was Wes Bertoni. At the time, I was debating the value of your camps. I know it's something you hear often, especially from parents of young long snappers. I'll tell you what sold me. First, it has very little to do with Long Snapping. You preached of good grades, good social media, being a good person, addressing coaches in a proper manner and working smarter not harder. But seeing how the other kid treat each other and seeing my son’s confidence grow I was hooked. It was not until my my sons’ 10th grade year that we started going to Jason Bertoni. I cannot even begin to write about Bertoni, without getting emotional. He has done so much for my son and his snapping. The reality is Bertoni often acts more as a sport psychologist than a snapping coach. He is the most sincere coach I have ever met. Without a doubt, my son would not be in the position he is in without Jason and Wes Bertoni. As my sons’ high school journey comes to an end, it is amazing to reflect back on everything you have taught US. I am currently in the position of remembering to breathe. More importantly, my son has learned life skills by coming to Rubio Long Snapping and going through this process. Work smarter not harder, being consistent and steadfast not only in snapping, but also in his work ethic. Give a firm hand shake, look the person in the eye and introduce yourself with confidence. Market yourself appropriately, you are not only a reflection of yourself, but also your team. You will compete and be ranked against your peers, if you don’t like your ranking keep working. Ironically that is how the promotion process at my work is conducted. You will face rejection, move on. My son has sent hundreds of emails and received just as many rejections. I have also seen him bulldog his way past offensive lineman and quarterbacks to get face time in front of a college coach. I often tell my son if he takes the lessons he has learned from long snapping and he applies them to his career he will be miles ahead of his peers. However, my proudest moment came this weekend in Arizona when a young long snapper looked up at him with same star-struck eyes that gave Wes. My son recognized that the young man looked up to him and took him under his wing and provide him encouragement. Rubio, my son’s journey is not done with you, however I want to sincerely thank you. Thank You for being a part of my son’s life and helping him grow into a young man. Whether you know it or not, by teaching him to long snap and recruit himself you reinforced life lessons that he will take with him outside of football. Quite frankly if all you taught was snapping, I may not have sent my son to so many of your camps. I am not trying to devalue your long snapping instruction, but I feel the true value of Rubio Long Snapping is in the life lessons that you teach. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of the Rubio Family."
